Six victims of sexual exploitation were freed in Spain and seven members of a network accused of pimping women in vulnerable situations in Europe were arrested in that country, in Colombia and the Netherlands, and in Colombia and Venezuela. .
As announced by Spanish police this Tuesday, five arrests took place in Spain, in Madrid, Valencia and Salamanca, the city where the victims were released, one in Amsterdam and another in Bogotá.
Those arrested are accused of human trafficking for sexual exploitation, membership of a criminal organization, violation of the rights of foreign nationals and involvement in prostitution.
The network “used a wide network of collaborators based in Colombia and Venezuela, who received 500 euros in financial compensation for each captured victim” with false promises of a tourist trip to gain access to the Schengen area, police said.
Once they arrived in Europe, to capitals such as Madrid, Lisbon, Paris or Amsterdam, the organization owed them 6,000 to 8,000 euros for travel, which they had to pay by engaging in prostitution in different European cities, he explained.
Some of them traveled from Bogotá, others from other parts of the Americas, but on arrival in Europe they were subjected to “absolute restraint” and “prolonged servitude together with their indebtedness.”
