Unlike other similar cases, the riot in this case did not involve a clash between criminal gangs, but rather prisoners protesting government intervention, Primisias reported, citing police intelligence sources.

Videos of the situation inside have circulated on social media, showing things burning, gunshots being heard and inmates complaining that “they are being killed”. In other films, some prisoners say they are “tired of being humiliated”.
