Workers’ Party (PT) candidate Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva is Brazil’s president-elect after Sunday’s vote, according to results issued by the High Electoral Court (TSE).

With 99.99 percent of the tally sheets counted through the TSE web portal, Lula received 50.9 percent of the total, or 60,341,399 votes.
For his part, incumbent President Jair Bolsonaro achieved 49.1 percent representing 58,203,702 votes.
Upon learning of the results, Lula posted a message on his social networking site, Twitter, with an image of the South American country’s flag through his account, “Democracy.” He will assume his post on January 1, 2023.
For his part, Geraldo Alcmin, Lula’s running mate for Brazil’s vice presidency, said via the aforementioned social network that “we got it.”
Additionally, dozens of people took to the streets of Brazil to celebrate Lula’s victory amid emotional chants, chants and music.
For this election day, more than 156 million Brazilians were invited, who were able to visit 472,075 open centers in 5,570 cities in the country, and abroad they were established in 181 locations.
Lula won the first round of the October 2 presidential election with 48.4 percent of the vote and Bolsonaro with 43.2 percent.
