Five people were killed Monday in a shooting at a bank in Louisville, Kentucky, and the gunman is dead, police said.

Earlier, the Louisville Police Department tweeted that an incident was underway and asked the public to stay away from the area.
“There are multiple casualties,” police tweeted. He added that there was an “active squatter” in the place.
Witnesses who came out of the building told station WHAS-TV that they heard gunshots inside the building.
Television images showed a large number of police vehicles in the area. WHAS reporters reported seeing people being taken away from the scene in ambulances.
In a tweet, Kentucky Gov. Andy Beshear announced he was en route to the scene.
“Thank you to all the families affected and to the city of Louisville recently,” Beshear wrote.
The FBI said its agents also responded to the shooting.
The incident occurred in a building on East Main Street that houses the old National Bank, not far from Louisville Slugger Field and Waterfront Park.
