Three adults and a minor were arrested in florent delicto by Colombian police for allegedly extorting businessmen in Cúcuta, a border town in the Norte de Santander department.
Those arrested presented themselves as members of the criminal group 'La Linea' and extorted 500 thousand to 2 million pesos per month with hand grenades and guns from businessmen like Virgilio Fargo, La Cumbre and Trigal del Norte.
Complaints from some of the victims prompted authorities to conduct investigations and identified the extortionists as Yenderson Cataluide, Cruz Caceres, Luigi Lugo and Minor.
During the arrest, an IM26 fragmentation grenade, a 38 millimeter caliber revolver and a cell phone were seized, which were used to threaten the victims, according to the authorities.
Officials said the adults were being held at a detention center after investigations were conducted, while the minor was sent to a juvenile detention center.
Those caught must answer to competent authorities for crimes of terrorism, extortion and illegal possession of firearms.
