5 uniformed officers were injured in the incident.
Three police officers were killed and five wounded Monday in a shooting at a home in Charlotte, North Carolina, while executing an arrest warrant for a wanted felon in possession of a firearm, authorities said.
Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Chief Johnny Jennings said officers arrived at a home in the city's suburbs when shots were fired and fired at a man in the residence's yard.
After the man fell, more shots were fired from inside the home in the direction officers came from, he said.
One suspect was found dead in the home's front yard, and after a three-hour standoff, two more people are being held inside the home and being questioned, Jennings said.
Officials said two people were involved in the attack.
