The foreign minister told the international media: “The operation in eastern Ukraine is aimed at the complete liberation of the Donetsk and Luhansk republics, as already announced. The operation will continue, and the next phase of this special operation is now beginning.” .
Similarly, Lavrov said this phase is fundamental and important in the development of special military operations, in which the armed forces are preparing to use exclusively conventional weapons.
Similarly, the senior diplomat emphasized Ukraine’s right to self – determination: “We want the Ukrainians to decide for themselves how they want to live. We want the people to have the freedom to choose.”
Earlier, the Russian government insisted on special operations in full compliance with the aforementioned objectives, while military installations only create points of attack.
Meanwhile, the Russian Defense Ministry has taken up a proposal to lay down arms for Ukrainian troops stationed at the Azovstal metal plant in Mariupol.
In this sense, the head of the Russian National Center for Defense Management, Colonel Miguel Mijintsev, reaffirmed his commitment to “guarantee the safety of life and respect for all the provisions of the Geneva Convention on the Treatment of Prisoners of War.”
