A visit from US Vice President Kamala Harris surprised the owners of Toki Arepera as she took orders and shared them with the workers.
Through the store’s Instagram account and one of its owners, they shared some details of their encounter at a store in Florida.
“Yesterday we had the honor of hosting Vice President Kamala Harris at our restaurant and were able to share our history and delicious Venezuelan cuisine with her,” they wrote in the post.
They described the meeting as “another page in their history as we became a source of inspiration for many who were trying to win their own American dream.”
“We are very grateful to our family and team, as this recognition belongs to all of us who make dogs,” they concluded.

One of the owners, Giovanni Esteves, provided other videos and photos of Harris’ visits to the store. Besides, he didn’t come to the meeting because he didn’t think it was real.
“Had we been told at some point in our lives that the Vice President of the United States would visit and recognize the work we doggies have done, I never would have believed it,” he posted.
“We were delighted to welcome Kamala Harris to our restaurant today, undoubtedly a big surprise for everyone. There are many professions in this country and it fills us with pride that we have been selected today. Today we would like to thank the entire Toki team because this recognition is undoubtedly due to you”, he said.
He further revealed, “Everything was so fast and hard to believe. I always doubted it was true and could not look it up. In the end we were able to come and share 10 super good minutes and was very nostalgic about what that moment meant”, he concluded.
