Bournemouth partnered with Gary O’Neill

Gary O’Neill has left Bournemouth.

The coach is leaving after supervising 37 games last season. His ten wins and six draws in the Premier League played a key role in Bournemouth’s survival.

A Bournemouth statement read: “A new manager will be announced shortly.”

O’Neal was placed on temporary assignment following the departure of Scott Parker early in the season. He managed to lead Bournemouth to 15th place in the English Premier League.

Bournemouth owner and chairman Bill Foley explained: “Gary’s achievement last season is an achievement for which I will always be grateful. It was a difficult decision, but one made with great care to put ourselves in the best light ahead of next season.

“As a club, we have put plans in place for long-term success with improvements to the infrastructure, most notably the development of a state-of-the-art training facility and ongoing discussions about upgrades to our stadium.

“We have also set a number of important targets in the transfer market this summer and believe this change of direction will provide us with the best platform to build from.

“Gary will go on to have a long career as a head coach or manager but we feel that, at the moment, a change would be in the best interests of this football club. I would like to put on record my thanks to Gary and wish him all the best for the future.”
