The Mexican government deported 126 Venezuelans without documents

The Mexican government announced on Saturday that it had deported 126 undocumented Venezuelans detained at an immigration facility in the country’s south.

“These are 117 men and nine women who could not prove their regular entry into the country,” the National Institute of Migration (INM) described in a report.

Faced with an influx of Venezuelans fleeing their country amid a deepening political and economic crisis, Mexico began requesting visas from them at the end of January.

According to the INM, 343 Venezuelans have been deported so far in 2022.

The group was held in Tapachula, Chiapas (South) on the border with Guatemala and at the Chiclo XXI immigration station, the main point of entry for undocumented migrants.

The Venezuelans were taken to the Tapachula airport this Saturday morning to board their flight back to their country.

Thousands of Venezuelans, many traveling with their families or in large groups, have led massive caravans from Chiapas.

They have also staged blockades in front of immigration offices and highways, demanding safe conduct from authorities who allow them to travel. Mexico.
