The Post reveals that an “immigrant influencer” who encouraged others to invade the United States and occupy citizens' homes eluded immigration officials shortly after arriving in the country.
Lionel Moreno, a Venezuelan national, crossed the southern border illegally in Eagle Pass, Texas in April 2022 and enrolled in the Alternative to Detention Program, which allows federal authorities to track migrants using ankle monitors or other technology.
However, Moreno did not follow the rules and is now listed as a “fugitive” from the program, according to Internal Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) documents seen by The Post.
Moreno, who claims in his videos that he, his wife and daughter receive $350 a week from the federal government, appears to be hiding in plain sight in a video posted in front of a police car in Kahanna, a suburb of Columbus, Ohio. .
Kahanna police told The Post they were aware of the videos, but added: “To date, our agency has had no contact with this individual and we do not know his whereabouts.”
Moreno was initially released on parole in the United States due to lack of space in detention centers. Previously, immigrants were not interviewed or vetted by officials (usually for up to three days) before they were allowed to enter the United States.
