When he opened the door of the house, he attacked her. He himself confessed to the crime.
A 21-year-old college student has been charged with first-degree murder for stabbing his mother because it “got on his nerves,” authorities in Florida said.
Emmanuel Espinoza drove 166 miles from the University of Florida to Frostproof, Florida for a family event.
When he arrived at his mother's home, he opened the door and began stabbing her, then called 911 to confess to the murder, Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd said.
Elvia Espinosa, 46, was on the phone with another family member when her son assaulted her.
“We talked to him and he agreed. He said, 'You know, I wanted to kill my mother for many, many, years because she got on my nerves,'” Judd said.
She was a second-grade teacher and the community loved her, Judd added.
It was not known if an attorney was available to comment on Espinoza's legal status.
