More deaths from Govt-19

“Monitoring over-mortality provides us with a comprehensive understanding of the impact of COVID-19 beyond the number of COVID-19 deaths reported by countries,” the WHO report said.

The World Health Organization (WHO) has been monitoring the global over-mortality rate as the epidemic develops over time and its impact and overall burden on countries, health systems and people.

Excessive mortality associated with Govit-19 is used to measure the direct and indirect impacts of the infection, it added.

“Excessive mortality is defined as the difference between the total number of deaths and the number of deaths expected in the absence of infection, i.e. in the absence of COVID-19,” he explained.

Excessive mortality includes deaths directly related to COV-19, which are calculated by countries and reported to the WHO, including deaths that are not directly accountable or reported to COVI-19.

This includes deaths that are indirectly associated with Govt-19, among other causes and diseases, as a result of the widespread impact of the epidemic on health systems and society.
