The victim's mother said the assailants were absconding without facing the consequences of their actions.
A 15-year-old Venezuelan girl suffered 40% burns on her face after being attacked by her classmates at an educational institution in Puente Piedra, Peru.
The victim's mother told local media that it all started in December 2023, when her daughter became the target of bullying. The violence escalated and he was later physically assaulted. She was burned on three different occasions while she was at school.
Since the first incident, the family had informed the authorities, but there was no adequate response to protect the girl.
According to Diario 2001, the situation did not improve even after informing the school director. The alleged attackers are absconding, not facing the consequences of their actions, the woman said.
“I came to the classroom teacher with a medical examination and they have not called me yet,” the mother told ATV Noticias.
Because of her immigration status, the young woman does not have access to social security, making it difficult to get adequate medical care. The minor feels abandoned and depressed and does not want to leave his room or interact with others.
