Four Venezuelan men were caught in the deadly delicto while guarding a kidnapped Spanish national since June 4 in the border municipality of Villa del Rosario.
The victim, identified as 51-year-old José Luis Hernández Ortiz, was approached by two armed men in the historic municipality, who took him to the Antonio Narino neighborhood, where he was held captive.
Officials indicated that the arrested persons demanded a sum of 700 thousand dollars for their release. All three cell phones were seized, through which they sent photographic and video evidence of his condition to the abductor’s family with the intention of paying them.
“This Thursday’s rescue operation was carried out through investigative operations by uniformed personnel of the GAULA, the Integrated Action Group for Personal Freedom, the Colombian Army and the CTI Technical Intelligence Division of the Attorney General’s Office; this made it possible to establish the exact location of the kidnappers’ captivity of Hernández Ortiz,” they noted in the press release.
