US President Joe Biden on Wednesday made a new tongue-in-cheek remark that Russian President Vladimir Putin is “losing the war in Iraq”, when he actually meant ‘Ukraine’.

Speaking briefly to reporters before leaving the White House on a trip to Chicago, Biden was asked if Putin had been weakened by the brief uprising led by mercenary leader Wagner.

“It’s hard to say, really. But it’s clear that he’s losing the war in Iraq. He’s losing the war at home and is being ignored around the world. And it’s not just NATO, it’s not just the European Union. It’s Japan, there are 40 countries,” was Biden’s verbose response, he shared.

It was the second decline in 24 hours.

On Tuesday night, Biden corrected himself at a campaign fundraiser, referring to China while referring to India, where Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited the White House a week ago.

“You may have seen my new best friend, the Prime Minister of China, now the largest country in the world, I mean, excuse me, India. “India is not looking for a permanent alliance but is looking to protect itself against some in the region,” he said.

These mistakes are not unusual for an 80-year-old president. Public opinion polls show that about 73% of respondents to an April 21-24 Reuters/Ipsos poll say Biden is too old to serve in government.

A majority of 63% of Democrats agreed with that statement. Biden’s doctor declared him healthy and “fit for work” after a physical in February.
