Pedro, the Duke and their families briefly greeted each other, and then the former President Duke left the Casa de Narino.

This Sunday, Colombia’s new president, Gustavo Pedro, took part in a rally in the Plaza de Bolivar in the center of Bogotá.

After he finished his speech, outlining his duties for the next four years, the new president, the first from the left in the country’s history, went to the Casa de Narino, where he greeted the military leadership and, later, he received. Command at the door of outgoing President Ivan Duke’s official residence.

Pedro, the Duke and their families briefly greeted each other, then the former President Duke left the Casa de Nariño with his wife Maria Juliana Ruiz and some members of his cabinet and the outgoing head of the Military House, Colonel Anuar Fernando Sadat.

Upon entering the residence, President Pedro, accompanied by his wife Veronica Alcozar and their children, greeted a group of workers and went to one of the halls for the cabinet’s swearing-in ceremony.

A few minutes earlier, in a long speech, Pedro outlined 10 obligations to Colombians during his tenure. First, the president pledged to work toward “real and lasting peace.”
