Mikheil Podoliak, an adviser to the head of the Ukrainian presidential office, predicted a full-scale war in the European region if arms shipments to Kiev were to stop.
Podoliak told a local TV station that once the arms supply is cut off, “there will be an increase in the severity of the war in Europe.” “The number of terrorist attacks in Europe will increase significantly. “Generally, in Europe we don’t sit in restaurants to eat croissants in peace,” he said.
The comments by Volodymyr Zelensky, an adviser to Ukraine’s president, followed European Union High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Joseph Borrell saying on Wednesday that peace in Ukraine would be easier to achieve if military aid was stopped. It will not be as quiet as desired.
In line with these ideas, Borrell insisted that the surrender of the Ukrainian army – which would happen “in a few days”, in his opinion – should continue military support to Kiev. West.
For its part, Russia has repeatedly said that providing arms to Ukraine would prolong the conflict and bring “the West into a new level of conflict” with Moscow.
Similarly, the Kremlin has repeatedly asserted that it is ready to discuss a peaceful resolution of the crisis as long as new realities, such as the recognition of territories under Russian control as part of its sovereignty, are taken into account.
