Relatives in Charlotte County were looking for the young man.
A high school teacher in Florida in the United States has arrested a young woman who allegedly went missing a few days ago, hiding in her house.
At the time, Kelly Simpson hid the teenager after finding him in an unknown location and kept him inside her home when she learned of a missing report.
Officers located the minor and after several movements in the area, were able to successfully locate him.
“Kelly Simpson was arrested for Interfering with the Custody of a Minor after she took a minor from an unknown location, knowing he was in danger of disappearing, hiding her inside her home. Simpson is currently employed by Charlotte County Public Schools,” investigators said.
The Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office said this is an ongoing investigation and asked anyone with information to contact police.
He also warned that “anyone who knows about the whereabouts of a missing minor or helps to hide minors may be charged.”
Simpson was booked on $5,000 bond Wednesday, according to jail records obtained by The New York Post.
The Charlotte County School District has placed a former Charlotte High School teacher on administrative leave.
