Upon arrival in the country, she was denied entry due to the judge’s history in Cuba, media outlet Martí Noticias reported, after which the woman was forced to seek political asylum and is currently being held.

According to the news website, González Pedraza signed a prison sentence against four youths under the age of 30 who threw Molotov cocktails at the homes of police chiefs and government officials in the municipality of Encruzijada on November 18, 2022.

He points out that the investigation was handled by state security and based on the statements of its agents without guarantees of due process.

Finally, Judge Andy Gabriel González Fuentes sentenced Eddy Daniel Rodríguez Pérez and Luis Ernesto Medina Pedraza to four years in prison, while the fourth defendant, Adain Barreiro Pérez, was sentenced to three years in prison. All were convicted of assault.

Mothers of Cuban prisoners protested parole, citing injustices by judge

A mother has commented that her son’s chance to go to the United States has been cut short by the sentencing of González Petraza, who received the benefits she was denied.

Now González Pedraza must begin a criminal process that includes a credible fear interview and may face an immigration judge to prove he was persecuted in Cuba.

Her sponsor, Roberto Castellón, pleads her case, arguing that she is only doing her job.

“I have spoken to immigration four times today. They have done her irreparable damage by adding her to the database of Cuban oppressors. “She was a Christian woman who was just doing her job,” Castellon said in statements to Marty Noticias.
