Paraguayan President Santiago Pena and White House National Security Advisor Jack Sullivan met in Washington to discuss the fight against corruption, the situation in Venezuela and the war in Ukraine, the US government said.
The meeting at the White House on Wednesday enabled Peña and Sullivan to discuss “opportunities to strengthen the deepening relationship” between Paraguay and the United States, added a statement from Joe Biden’s administration.
“The National Security Adviser celebrated the position adopted by Paraguay on important regional and global issues, such as support for democracy in Venezuela and condemnation of Russia’s war against Ukraine,” the memo details.
Peña and Sullivan also discussed “ongoing efforts in Paraguay to strengthen democratic institutions and fight corruption.”
