Many Square Enix employees want to remake Final Fantasy 6

The release of Final Fantasy 6 is such a hot topic within Square Enix’s walls that many members of its development teams are eager to make it happen.

Final Fantasy 6 director Yoshinori Kitase, who is now a vice president, board member, and executive officer at Square Enix, discussed the possibility of a remake during a video on the publisher. Youtube channel.

“I think Final Fantasy 6 Remake is going to be tough,” Kitase said, as translated by Genki on Twitter (below) and verified by IGN.

“There are many Final Fantasy VI fans within the company who often ask me: When do we make six?”

“Final Fantasy 7 Remake is not over yet, so I can’t think of it, but for Final Fantasy 6, there are many Final Fantasy 6 fans within the company who often ask me: ‘When do we make six?’ “”

The difficulty behind reworking Final Fantasy 6 was outlined by Final Fantasy creator Hironobu Sakaguchi, who said that the original game’s pixel art and 2D format would make it more complex to remake, demanding a complete overhaul of the story and graphics.

Despite his grievances, even Sakaguchi seems eager for a remake, asking Kitase: “Aren’t you going to release it soon?”

The same factors affecting the Final Fantasy 6 remake can apparently be applied to the ongoing Final Fantasy 7 Remake, but that trio of games is now a far cry from what the original Final Fantasy 7 was on PlayStation.

The game’s story, world, quests, and practically everything else in the remake have been changed to create a modern take, so Square Enix certainly wasn’t concerned with the need to completely revamp the original in this case.

Perhaps that will give hope to fans who want a Final Fantasy 6 remake, which many consider to be one of the best in the franchise. The second part of Final Fantasy 7 Remake, subtitled Rebirth, will be released this winter with the third game already in development.
