Clarissa Figueroa was sentenced to 50 years in prison. The woman pleaded guilty to first-degree murder in order to remove the child from the pregnant woman's womb.
The crime happened five years ago in Chicago. Figueroa, 51, was charged with kidnapping, mutilation and other serious crimes in connection with the murder of Marlén Ochoa López, who was nine months pregnant at the time.
Through a group of young mothers, the woman contacted Marlon in April 2019 and promised her free baby clothes for her home in Chicago.
At the scene, with the help of his daughter Desiree, he strangled her with a cable, removed the baby from her stomach with a kitchen knife, and then left her body in the trash. She then called 911 and reported a baby who was not breathing.
After spending seven weeks in hospital in critical condition, the boy later died of a severe brain injury caused by a lack of oxygen, Diario 2001 reported.
Desiree pleaded guilty to manslaughter in January and agreed to testify against her mother in exchange for a 30-year prison sentence.
