The band was nominated for three awards per night: “Making Fire” for Best Rock Performance, “Waiting for War” for Best Rock Song, and Medicine in the middle of the night Best rock album.

Instead, let’s take this time to grieve, heal, bring our loved ones closer, and appreciate all the music and memories we made together.”
Hawkins died in Bogota, Colombia while the band was preparing for a show at the Estéro Picnic Festival. The exact cause of death has not yet been determined, but the Colombian attorney general said that at least 10 substances were found in Hawkins, including antidepressants, benzodiazepines and opioids.
It’s unclear how the Recording Academy plans to honor Hawkins as part of the broadcast.
