Daniel Snyder can’t sell leaders soon enough.
In the week when Snyder was temporarily outdone as the league’s most embarrassing owner by his sudden archenemy, Colts owner Jim Irsai, Snyder reminded everyone that he put the “disruption” into dysfunction with a shameful statement trying to use shooting the leaders as they run back. Brian Robinson As a shield against external scrutiny.
Following Wednesday’s announcement that DC Attorney General Karl Racine will present “Important announcementThursday leaders Issue a special combat statement.
“Less than three months ago, a 23-year-old player on our team was injured multiple times in broad daylight,” the captains said. Despite out-of-control violent crime in DC, today Washington leaders learned for the first time on Twitter that the DC Attorney General will hold a press conference “to make a significant announcement” regarding regulation tomorrow.
But why would you call for shooting Brian Robinson? What does it prove? The crime against Robinson is not linked to any crimes the commanders may have committed.
Consider the absurd nature of that argument. Essentially, the leaders are dismissing the prospect of being investigated and prosecuted because, in an entirely unrelated incident, one of the team’s employees was shot in the same jurisdiction.
The statement issued by the team also contained comments that were more relevant to the topic at hand.
“Leaders have fully cooperated with the AG investigation for nearly a year,” the leaders said. “Recently, on Monday, a lawyer from the team met with AG who at the time did not indicate that he intended to take any action and, in fact, exposed a fundamental misunderstanding of the basic facts. It is unfortunate that in his final days in office, Mr. Racine appears More interested in making dazzling headlines, based on offbeat legal theories, than doing the serious work of making the streets safe for our citizens, including bringing people to justice who shot one of our players.”
Racine can try to do both. He is responsible for all potential criminal activities within the District of Columbia, whether it is street crime or white collar offenses.
Here is the deeper problem with the leaders’ statement. Like many self-serving press releases, the two-paragraph attack on Racine is meant to please Snyder’s base of fans and supporters. The only problem with this approach is that it has neither fans nor supporters.
Thus, the best approach at this point is to: (1) keep your head low; (2) Keep your mouth shut. and (3) above all selling the team.
