Louisville suspect dead after shooting at local bank, police say
A Louisville, Kentucky shooting suspect has died after opening fire at a local bank, police said.
The shooter is dead, Louisville police said, and is not considered a serious threat at this time.
The circumstances of his death are unknown.
Louisville police said they received calls about an “criminal in action” at the Old National Bank at 8:30 a.m. ET.
They described the suspect as a “lone gunman.”
The shooting killed 5 people in the building and sent 6 to a local hospital.

President Joe Biden has already been briefed on the shooting in Louisville, Kentucky, a White House official told CNN.

A man called 911 after receiving a “shocking” call from his wife, who informed him of the shooting.

A man who spoke to local broadcaster WLKY said he received a call from his wife that the attacker was active and locked in a vault at the Old National Bank.
The man, Caleb Goodlett, called 911, but authorities already knew.
Goodlett described the call as “shocking” and said it happened at 8:30 a.m. His wife called him from the phone inside the bank vault where he was hiding.
The man said his wife was “fine”.

Louisville Metropolitan Police said Monday they responded to “an active shooter” in the 300 block of East Main Street in Louisville, Kentucky, adding that there were “multiple injuries.”
The Louisville metropolitan area, located on the Kentucky-Indiana border, has a population of approximately 630,000 as of the 2020 census.
The 300 block of East Main Street is bordered on the east by the minor league ballpark Louisville Slugger Field and includes a bank, dental office, furniture store and the Louisville Ballet.

At least six people were killed in a shooting in Louisville, Kentucky on Monday, a statement from the scene said, and six others were taken to University of Louisville Hospital with “multiple injuries,” including an officer.
The condition of the injured who were taken to the hospital is not known at this time.
A police officer at the scene confirmed that the assailant had died and the circumstances surrounding his death were unknown. They said there is no danger at this time.

Kentucky Gov. Andy Beshear said he was heading to the scene of the shooting after “multiple injuries” were reported in downtown Louisville.
LMPD has confirmed a shooting in downtown Louisville with multiple victims,” Beshear said in a tweet. “I’m on my way there now. Please pray for all the families affected and for the city of Louisville.”
