Activision has removed the Nickmercs Call of Duty skin following Anti-LGBTQIA + comments

His Call of Duty Operator skin has been removed, following backlash over recent anti-LGBTQIA+ comments.

Earlier this week, broadcaster Chris Buckett tweeted a video of an attack on Pride supporters by anti-LGBTQ protesters.

“Americans are in a sad situation right now,” he wrote. “Let people love who they love and live your own life.”

In response, Nickmercs wrote: “They should leave little kids alone. That’s the real issue.”

After backlash over his comment, Activision pulled the Nickmercs Call of Duty Operator cover that was introduced with the Modern Warfare 2 update and Warzone 2 Season 3 Reloaded last month.

“Due to recent events, we have removed the ‘NICKMERCS Operator’ pack from the Modern Warfare II and Warzone store,” the company said. He said. “We focus on celebrating Pride with our employees and our community.”

While his comment was widely criticized, Kolchev later claimed (trans Dextero) that it “wasn’t a homophobic tweet”.

He said he would not apologize for it and that he stood by his belief that children should not be taught about the LGBTQIA+ community in schools.
