More than half of Activision Blizzard’s revenue came from mobile games in the April-June (second quarter) of 2022.
According to Activision Blizzard’s latest financial report, the developer/publisher generated £535 million in PC and console sales in the second quarter of 2022 – £275 million ($332 million) on PC and £310 million ($376 million). dollars) – while £688 million ($831 million) came from its “mobile and supplementary” business, which the company says “primarily includes[s] Revenue from mobile.” That represented more than 50 percent of its total net revenue for the period.
Part of this, of course, is that Activision acquired mobile developer King in 2016 – and now, that’s the most successful part of the ABK business – but it’s no coincidence that Diablo Immortal launched during this time either (thanks, computer games).
Just a year ago during the same period, mobile, console and PC profits were £658m / $795m, £612m / $740m, and £520m / $628m respectively, which means That only its mobile business increased its net annual revenue—y-o-y: Console profits, on the other hand, nearly halved.
The same financial report recently revealed that Diablo Immortal has succeeded in stopping the flow of Blizzard user numbersand giving the company a modest increase in monthly active participation.
However, the results also show that Blizzard’s active users have recovered only slightly – where they were just over a year ago – and revenue is still slightly lower year-over-year.
After dropping its monthly active users to 22 million for the quarter ending March 2022, Diablo Immortal helped bring Blizzard back to 27 million for the quarter ending early July.
