Monday was anything but a routine day on the soccer field twinsthanks to a unique triple play that has never been seen before in MLB history.
With runners at first and second base at the bottom of the seventh inning against the White Sox, defensive player Byron Buxton scored the first out on an AJ Pollock fly ball with an impressive wall catch. The Minnesota superstar quickly tossed the ball to third baseman Geo Urcella, who flagged Yoann Moncada as he slipped to second before stepping on the bag to retire Adam Engel; Moncada and Engel started the play first and second, respectively, finding themselves in a precarious position after mistaking a Bullock ball.
Once the chaos was finally over, the runaway streak was finally officially recognized as the first 8-5 triplex game recorded in the league’s 146-year history, According to MLB.com.

As the stunned audience in the Content Rate Field looked on, the cameras caught a similar reaction on the face of White Sox manager Tony La Russa, who couldn’t believe what he had just seen.
After being allowed to run once early in the first half, the twins somehow managed to survive after making one of the most unbelievable triple plays ever – and ended up biting the White Sox in the long run.
With a 2-2 draw heading into additional innings, Minnesota scored four-to-one in Chicago to come out 6-3 on the road.
