Woman trapped in vehicle for 18 hours dies

A 22-year-old woman froze to death 18 hours after being trapped in her vehicle, US authorities said.

Andelle Taylor was one of three motorists seen in her car, which stubbornly made it onto the road despite a travel ban.

According to her family, the young woman called the emergency services, but they did not come to rescue her.

In total, this weather event has caused the death of 57 people.

Antell Taylor died on the afternoon of December 23 when his car got stuck in snow while returning home from work.

The young woman sent a few videos to her family before she died, the last being recorded just after midnight, when she rolled down the snow-covered window and saw a nearby van stranded and its emergency lights flashing.

“I told my sister I was scared,” Domatia Brown, one of Taylor’s sisters, told Wsoc-TV.

Her family told the outlet that she was trapped in her car for about 18 hours before she was found on Christmas Eve.

“He called 911 and waited for them to come. The fire department, the police, everybody was stuck,” said his mother, Wanda Brown Steele, who wondered why there were no emergency vehicles that could operate during the storm in a “state known for snow.”

Officials warn that more people may die as more snow is forecast. The weather disaster that New York Governor Kathy Hochul describes as the “storm of the century” continues its fury.
