The Los Angeles Lakers’ search for their next coach continues, but there has been a lot of hype that has, for all intents and purposes, already died down.
Multiple reports have indicated that former three-point specialist JJ Redick is the front-runner to get the job. In fact, one insider, Anthony Irwin, went so far as to say that it’s not a matter of if Redick will be announced as the Lakers’ next coach, but when.
The team was scheduled to hold a second interview with James Borrego, a New Orleans Pelicans assistant who was previously the Charlotte Hornets’ coach for four seasons. According to Adrian Wojnarowski, more interviews are on the way, and LA will be conducting these interviews in order to get a more in-depth look at the candidates it has already pre-interviewed.
In fact, an insider told ESPN that the team is “nowhere close” to finalizing the process.

Assuming Wojnarowski’s sources are accurate, Lakers fans should expect this research to take some time — perhaps up to a few more weeks.
