An eyewitness said Williams was treated with vigilance and answered paramedics’ questions after he was involved in a fatal motorcycle accident.
The beloved “Everwood” star, 71, was riding his motorcycle near Dorset, Vermont on Monday afternoon when he was hit by an SUV. He was seriously injured and was transported by helicopter to Albany Medical Center in New York, where he was later pronounced dead.
Buster Matt Raban said Daily Mail Wed that he saw the accident happen and believed the actor would survive the ordeal.
“I saw the Cure fly through the air,” Rapphahn recalls of the collision, saying the star was wearing a helmet at the time of the collision.
He claimed that other witnesses rushed to come to the aid of the seriously injured actor until paramedics arrived on the scene.
“It was completely laid out, and they are [first responders] They would ask him basic questions, such as “Do you know where you are?” and “What’s your wife’s name?” Follow Raban. “He was responsive. He looked like he was up the whole time because, obviously, when they had to move him, you could see he was in a great deal of pain. They loaded him into the ambulance and drove off.”
The eyewitness added, “Honestly, I was very hopeful that he would move on.”
Meanwhile, the Daily Mail named the SUV driver as Ryan Coss – a 35-year-old employee of the Dorset Playhouse.
The publican claims that Koss and Williams most likely knew each other because the latter was performing in the 2017 play “American Buffalo” at the theatre.
The Daily Mail reported that Koss was not drunk at the time of the incident. He was “examined by medical staff at the scene for minor injuries” and released at the scene.
The full investigation is now underway.
Williams lived for a long time near Dorset with his wife, Pam Van Sant. The couple shared two children together.
Eyewitness Rabanne said the actor was a beloved figure in the local area and was often seen cruising around town on his 1986 Honda VT700c motorcycle – the one he was riding at the time of Monday’s fatal accident.
“I used to meet him in town all the time,” he said. “He was sharing some stories. He had such a good laugh. He was such a great, kind man. This was his home. This was his community.”
It was also revealed that the “generous” Williams once wrote a check to repair a local mechanic’s home after a fire.
It was also reported that Williams was a longtime friend of Alec Baldwin and encouraged the “It’s Complicated” star to buy a home in the area.
Williams spent the hours before his death at his home outside Dorset doing yard work.
He took to Instagram to share snaps from his estate just before his death, with the caption: “Hiday.”
While best known for his role on Everwood, Williams boasted a long resume that included “1941” (1979), “Prince of the City” (1981), “The Deep End of the Ocean” (1999), “Miss Congeniality 2: Armed & Fabulous.” (2005) and “Second Act” (2018).
Meanwhile, he had recently accepted a lead role in Ryan Murphy’s “Feud: Capote Vs. swans according to the deadline.
The upcoming FX series, based on Laurence Leamer’s bestselling book “Capote’s Women: A True Story of Love, Betrayal, and a Swan Song for an Era,” follows Truman Capote from the mid-1970s until the author’s eccentric death in 1984.
Williams accepted the role of CBS co-creator Bill Paley, joining a cast that also includes Naomi Watts, Molly Ringwald, and Tom Hollander.
Meanwhile, Williams’ family released a statement regarding his death to the deadlinesaying, “It is with great sadness that we report that our beloved Treat Williams passed away tonight in Dorset, Vermont after a fatal motorcycle accident. As you can imagine, we are devastated and bereaved at this time.”
“Therapy was so full of love for his family, for his life and for his profession, and he was really on top of his game in it all. It’s all very traumatic at the moment, but please know that Therapy was so loved and respected by his family and everyone who knew him.”
