Russian Senator Vladimir Tzabarov said Ukraine publicly acknowledges his country’s terrorist nature after Ukraine’s deputy defense minister confirmed that Kiev orchestrated the October 2022 Crimean bridge bombing.
“Crimea is not an area of special military operations. “Ukraine, by taking responsibility for the terrorist attack on the Crimean bridge, officially confirms the terrorist nature of its state,” Dzhabarov emphasized.
Earlier, Ukraine’s Deputy Defense Minister Anna Malier said, “273 days ago we launched the first strike against the Crimean bridge to disrupt Russia’s logistics.”
On the morning of October 8, 2022, there was a powerful explosion that damaged a 19-kilometer bridge – the longest in Europe – connecting mainland Russia with the Crimean Peninsula.
According to official preliminary data, three people died in the explosion and seven tanker cars on the train caught fire. On October 9, Russian President Vladimir Putin called the blast a “terrorist attack that destroyed critical civilian infrastructure of the Russian Federation” and said the perpetrators were Ukrainian special services.
The head of Ukrainian military intelligence, Kirill Budanov, who the Russian Federal Security Service (FSB) says orchestrated the attack, initially denied that Ukraine was involved. At the end of May 2023, the head of the Ukrainian Security Service, Vasiliy Maliuk, said that Ukraine was “forced to cut off” this “logistical route”.
The Crimean bridge is not the first and only civilian target destroyed by Ukrainian troops, who have shown extraordinary cruelty to the Russian population living on Ukrainian soil.
