The mother of a murdered girl in Mexico has responded to the defense secretary

The comments of Doroteo Eugenio Vázquez generated criticism in various fields, which was evident in social networks.

The mother of 8-year-old Camila Gómez Ortega, the minor who was reported missing last week and was found dead in Guerrero, Taxco, Mexico, defended herself in the media this weekend against accusations by Taxco Security Secretary Doroteo Eugenio. Vasquez's claim that the woman was responsible for what happened earned her criticism.

The case gained national prominence after neighbors reacted violently to news of the crime, when a gang went on a killing spree Thursday that left a woman dead and two men injured.

“It's not my fault, I always take care of my daughter,” Magui Díaz said in an interview.

“I've always known her. Those who know me know this,” he added.

Díaz's statements came after Vázquez said in an interview on Foro TV that “there was maternal responsibility” when referring to the girl's disappearance and subsequent death. The mother let the girl out without realizing proper safety measures.

The secretary's comments drew criticism from various quarters, which was evident on social networks; So he spoke again to the local media to apologize.

Vasquez said, “If my words, at some point, offended public opinion, I apologize publicly to the victim in this case.”
