The Broncos are blocking defensive coordinator Ejiro Evero from interviewing the Falcons for the same job.
Hours after the news that The Falcons wanted to interview Everothe Denver Post I mentioned that Bronco won’t let him.
Evero is under contract with the Broncos for the 2023 season, which means the Broncos can block him from interviewing for any job other than head coach. It is still possible that the Broncos coach would ultimately decide not to keep Eveiro as defensive coordinator, which could be a crude deal for him if the other defensive coordinator jobs he was considering were filled at this point. But the Broncos still have to pay him his salary if he ends up quitting his job next season.
Eviero is also likely to be a head coach in 2023. He has already been interviewed by the Broncos and Colts, and is scheduled to interview the Texans next week.
Last season was the 42-year-old Ejero’s first as defensive coordinator, and he did a solid job in a year when Denver’s defense held him in so many games that his offense eventually lost.
Brigadier General Pease, who has spent the past two years as the Falcons’ defensive coordinator, announced his retirement after season.
