Steve Curry, Warriors graded into the NBA Finals Game 2

Safe to say for Dub Nation, Game 2 of 2022 The NBA Finals It was much better than Game 1.

Just like in the first game, the Golden State Warriors And the Boston Celtics She was neck and neck in the first half. And just like in the first game, the Warriors used the dominant third quarter to build a double-digit lead in the fourth. But unlike the first game, Dubs didn’t waste it in game 2, and Come home with a 107-88 wina bound series, and a plane ticket to Boston, where things are about to get very interesting, very quickly.

We’ll discuss that more in the coming days. Until then, let’s rate the Warriors players based on our expectations for each of them.

Draymond Green

35 min, 9 points, 5 rebounds, 7 assists, 1 steal, 1 block, 1 spin, 3 fouls, 2 vs 3 shots, 0 vs 1 three-pointers, 5 vs 7 free throws, 74.0% TS, +9

Despite the fact that Green regularly fills each chest point column, he is a player with a reputation for doing more than his chest points can accurately depict.

Fortunately that was the case on Sunday.

Draymond was a thorn in Boston’s side. He mixed it up with Jason Tatum. He mixed it with Jaylen Brown. He mixed it up with Marcus Smart. He mixed it up with the whole team.

He got feedback from them. In one decisive game, the Warriors were trying to get the ball in, and Tatum closely guarded Greene. Dray was so physically advanced with the Celtics striker that the umpires had to fire them three or four times before the play began…only for Tatum to make a mistake with Greene on the inside.

There is no better way to describe Drey’s performance than Marcus Thompson II did in this tweet:

Nice chest score stats. But drive, toughness, mind games and 4D chess are the things that truly make Draymond a star for this team.

And I can’t help but think we’ll feel the impact of his performance in Game 2 throughout the rest of the series.

Grade: A +

Andrew Wiggins

31 min, 11 points, 6 rebounds, 2 assists, 2 turns, 2 fouls, shot 4 for 12, 2 for 3, free throws 1 for 2, 42.7% TS, +19

Wiggins had some huge shots in this game, although his overall offensive output was rather poor.

But it’s still a pretty good score in my book, simply because his defense of Tatum was so impressive. Tatum played a good ball scoring game, but Wiggins made him work for it.

Grade: B +

kevon looney

21 min, 12 points, 7 rebounds, 2 assists, 3 steals, 1 hit, 2 fouls, 6 for 6 shots, 100.0% TS, +24

Chromatic 12 points. Al Horford and Robert Williams totaled 3 combined 4 points. Looney made 6 shots. Horford and Williams combined to shoot only 5 times. Looney had 7 rebounds and 2 assists. Horford and Williams combined to score 10 rebounds and 2 assists.

His wonderful postseason run continues.

Looney also played a large role in the team’s offensive success in the first quarter.

Grade: A

32 min, 29 points, 6 rebounds, 4 assists, 3 steals, 2 turns, 2 fouls, 9 for 21 shots, 5 for 12 three-pointers, 6 for 7 free throws, 60.2% TS, +24

The biggest reason warriors won in this game was Carrie’s allure. There is simply no way around that. The way Boston defended their top two ranked player allowed the team’s attack to flourish… They’ve got four doubles with Drey leading the attack, they’ve got breakers moving into the basket with the help of limited defense, and they’ve got many open-shooters.

This is Curry’s biggest effect. But they also won in no small part because of his excellent defense.

If the Warriors can find a way to win three more games, Curry – who should already be on anyone’s top ten list, but still somehow disrespectful – would add a fourth episode and the Finals Player of the Year trophy.

And then maybe, just maybe, people will start to realize that he’s not just a great player all the time, but he’s absolutely amazing hem player too.

Put some respect on the guy’s name. He’s one of the best players ever, at this point and in all stages.

Klay Thompson

30 min, 11 points, 3 rebounds, 1 assist, 2 steals, 2 spins, 1 foul, shot 4 for 19, 1 for 8, free throws 2 for 2, 27.7% TS, 0 plus/minus

There is no way to paint this. This was a really tough game from Klay.

I miss the good looks. Force bad looks. He did nothing else, despite having some good defensive properties.

He’s going to have one of those silly games he’s known for, and it’s going to be amazing when it happens.

Grade: D-

Nemanja Bielica

11 min, 6 points, 5 rebounds, 1 steal, 1 spin, 3 fouls, 3 for 4 shots, 75.0% TS, -7

Bielica had some surprising minutes early in this match and…. he was excellent.

But most importantly, it was excellent in defense.

Most importantly, he was excellent on defense On Jason Tatum.

Bjelica had several possessions where he was placed on an island and asked to defend the All-NBA star, and he was up to the task. Three fouls in 11 minutes is the only disgrace in a great game. We’ll see more of it in this series.

Jonathan Kuminga

4 minutes, 0 points, -5

Kuminga stays out of the spin, but Dubs has earned a decent chunk of trash time in this game.

Otto Porter Jr.

15 min, 3 points, 3 rebounds, 1 pass, 3 steals, 1 foul, 1 for 1 shot, 1 for 1 triple, 150.0% TS, +24

Porter couldn’t play a significant portion of the minutes, but he turned off the lights in the minutes he played. He was a threat on defense, he did the little things in attack, and he was on the court when the Warriors played their best basketball. Partly because of what he was doing.

Grade: A

Juan Toscano Anderson

4 min, 0 points, 2 rebounds, 2 assists, 1 spin, shot 0 vs. 1, 0 vs. 1 triple, 0.0% TS, -5

Trash time for JTA, but he did some nice things while he was there.

Damion Lee

4 minutes, 0 points, 0 vs 1, 0 vs 1 triple, 0.0% TS, -5

Garbage time for me. Nothing to note.

Gary Payton II

25 min, 7 points, 3 rebounds, 3 assists, 2 fouls, 3 for 3 shots, 1 for 1 triple, 0 for 2 free throws, 90.2% TS, +15

Payton gets a perfect score here, simply because he’s back on the field for the first time since he fractured his elbow in the Western Conference semi-finals, an injury that looked set to keep him out until next season. It was amazing to see him there.

But he also got a high score for playing great basketball on both ends of the court. What a difference maker he is.

Grade: A +

Jordan Paul

23 min, 17 points, 2 rebounds, 3 assists, 2 steals, 3 turns, 1 foul, 6 for 14, 5 for 9 triples, 60.7% TS, +7

Paul started where he left off in the first half, with some difficulties giving you stopping. But then he turned it on in the second half, which was highlighted by a memorable sequence at the end of the third quarter that looked like the biggest moment of the match, turning a comfortable lead into an inevitable result with a deep three followed by a deep three.

A lot of the damage came to him once the score was set, but he still got a good score for those huge shots, and some much improved defense.

Grade: B +

Moses Modi

6 min, 2 points, shooting 1 vs 1, 100.0% TS, -3

Moody still finds himself playing meaningful minutes at some point in the series. But she was not in this game.
