Report: Rashi Rice lured the alleged victim back to the club on assault charges

Details are unfolding regarding the recent legal involvement of Chiefs receiver Rushie Rice.

Multiple media outlets obtained the police report. Fox 4’s Steven Dial has Publish the main part of it.

“Complainant . . . said that on May 6, 2025, at approximately 1:30 a.m., he was at Lit Kitchen and Lounge located at 609 N Hardwood St to attend an after-hours party, which he left shortly after. Complainant said he was In his car driving away from the location where the suspect was at approximately 1:56 a.m. he sent the complainant a message on Instagram, asking where he was and telling the complainant to return to Lit Kitchen and Lounge At that time the suspect wanted to hire him to take pictures. The complainant said that when he returned to the location, he was informed of the suspect’s whereabouts by other members of the suspect’s entourage. The complainant said he located the suspect, and the suspect asked him to look at a phone Mobile suspect; any [sic] They were messages sent from the complainant and another individual on Instagram [redacted]. The complainant said that while he was looking at the suspect’s cell phone, the suspect’s cell phone was on the left side of the complainant’s face.

the Dallas Morning News The item relating to the police report states that the complainant had “visible swelling on one side of his face”. The Dallas Morning News article also asserts that “[o]On social media, doubts were raised about the narrative in the hours after the allegation first appeared on Tuesday.[t]Two civilians with knowledge of the incident told The News that a verbal altercation occurred at the club, but there was no physical contact.

In other words, the witnesses did not see the punch, if there was one. That doesn’t mean there wasn’t a punch, but that testimony (if presented at trial) becomes evidence that can support reasonable doubt.

Of course, that wouldn’t be the bar if prosecutors used this incident to try to void Rice’s bond. He currently faces eight felony charges stemming from a street racing incident in late March. Certainly, the conditions for his release pending trial include not committing assault, especially since he faces an aggravated assault charge, among other things.

If prosecutors in the pending case attempt to jail Rice pending trial, it is possible, if not likely, that a “preponderance of the evidence” (anymost likely not) the standard applies.
