Patrick Mahomes, the Chiefs aim to become the ninth repeat franchise

Patrick Mahomes said the Kansas City Chiefs are focused on ending that streak and winning a second straight title.

“Everyone is driven by that,” Mahomes said Tuesday while reporting for a training camp at Western Missouri State University. The Chiefs begin a three-day camp for their starting quarterbacks and juniors on Wednesday with full team training starting Sunday.

“You have to be excited to do it again. When you have this show, when you go through an unofficial phase that you went through, you want to do it again,” said Mahomes. “You only get those opportunities by winning the Super Bowl. Coach Andy Reid said team chiefs will soon decide if bringing back Isiah Pacheco will start camp on the injured list or be able to participate. Pacheco, who led the Chiefs in rushing last season as a junior and ran for 76 yards and a touchdown in the Super Bowl, had surgery during his break for hand and shoulder injuries.

Regarding Pacheco’s availability at the start of the regular season, Reid said, “I think we’ll have enough time, but let’s see how it goes.”
