Singer Paloma Faith

Angry at the new Little Mermaid

More than Ariel giving up on Eric’s voice, “WTF is that S***?”

Something about the live remake of “The Little Mermaid” just doesn’t sit right with the singer Paloma Faith … Who says the plot of a movie is really hard to explain to her kids.

Paloma took to social media over the weekend, to congratulate him first Halle Bailey for her performance in the new Disney movie — before pulling out the main focus of the story, saying “I don’t want my kids to think it’s okay to give up your entire voice and abilities to love a guy.”

She added, “Wtf that s***?! Not what I want to be teaching the next generation of women at all.” Of course, she’s referring to Ariel giving up her voice to become human with her love interest, Prince Eric.

For those unaware, it’s the same trope that was used in the original 1989 version, so it looks like Paloma may have forgotten about the story before watching this new adaptation.

However, Haley said Release Earlier this year, her remake “definitely changed that perspective of wanting to leave the ocean for a boy… It’s so much more than that. It’s about herself and her purpose and her freedom and her life and what she wants.”

It appears that this claim either never made it to the big screen, or it just got over Paloma’s head.
