It looks like Quentin Tarantino has closed the book on Rick Dalton, the actor portrayed by Leonardo DiCaprio in Once upon a time… in Hollywood.
Tarantino made the announcement via Video archives The podcast he hosts Pulp Fiction Author Roger Avary. A series of tweets announced the death, and noted that Tuesday’s podcast will be a “Quentin-created memorial episode featuring some of Rick’s best roles.”
The Archives of Video podcast is where Tarantino and Avary “revisit classic films on VHS and discover new favourites.” New episodes usually arrive on Tuesdays, but the schedule appears to have been sped up to accommodate breaking news.
Tarantino has previously mapped Dalton’s life. In 2021, he told the podcaster Jeff Goldsmith He has a resume.
“I wrote Rick Dalton movies book,” he said. “It is written as if Rick is real. You know, they have Charles Bronson Movies And Anthony Quinn moviesWell, it was done like this, with a synopsis and then some critical quotes from that time, and the book deals with every one of the Rick movies he’s ever done, leading up to the end of his career in 1988, I think, and every one of his TV shows spin-offs”.
In that interview, Tarantino talked about a movie called fireman Starring Dalton and stuntman Cliff Booth (Brad Pitt). This fantasy movie is set a decade after “Hollywood”.
“She was the main character in the Vietnam War, and he became a cop,” Tarantino said. And then he starts seeing this whole bunch of bad apple cops killing these guys and they’re totally corrupt and they end up killing his partner, played by a very young Sam Jackson. And then Rick targets these bad cops, and he’s in a fireman’s uniform, and he’s got a flamethrower. And go and burn them all.”
