NVIDIA updates GeForce RTX 3050 with GA107 GPU, reduces power consumption by 15W

NVIDIA AIB partners are finally starting to offer a GeForce RTX 3050 graphics card with a GA107 GPU, which results in a 15W reduction in power consumption.

NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3050 gets Ampere GA107 GPU, same performance with 15W less power

A year ago, NVIDIA I entered GeForce RTX 3050 graphics card which included a GA106 GPU for $249. The graphics card was supposed to deliver entry-level RTX performance in a 130W package but it looks like it was It was originally intended to use the GA107 GPU which at the time were shipping to laptops and NVIDIA had to reuse the GA106 silicon for now.

Now, a year later, NVIDIA’s AIBs are offering the GeForce RTX 3050 graphics card with the GA107 GPU. NVIDIA’s GA107 GPU has two smaller cores than the GA106, which provides 3,840 CUDA cores. There will be no reason to replace the PCB because both versions are identical layouts, allowing both to be compatible.

MSI has released its new file GeForce RTX 3050 VENTUS 2X XS 8G OC, which is expected to offer 2,560 CUDA cores. The graphics card will be overclockable, with the boost clock expected to be as high as 1807MHz. Memory speeds are expected to reach 14Gbps and it uses 8GB of GDDR6 onboard memory and a 128-bit memory bus. The total power consumption level will be 115W, 15W less than the GA106 variant.

Display outputs on the new NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3050 VENTUS 2X XS 8G OC graphics card will have one DisplayPort 1.4a port, one HDMI port that is expected to support 4K resolution at 120Hz with 2.1 specification and DL-DVI-D, interestingly they are adding a connector Monitor outdated to GPU. DL-DVI-D cables see through the LCD connections and only provide a digital output.

NVIDIA won’t be releasing an RTX 4050 any time soon since it’s still focused on the RTX 4070 and RTX 4060 series for the majority of early 2023. A successor to the RTX 3050 may appear by mid-2023 but we’ll have to see so for users who are willing to wait, the RTX is 3050 is a decent entry level option right now and can be found at decent prices too.
