“What? I’ve been cheering for St. Peter for years. They’re my local NJ basketball team. Go peacock!!” Ole wrote Miss Alum.
It’s the furthest St. Peter has contested in the tournament, and the 2022 tournament is her fourth-ever Big Dance appearance. The team finished 12th in 1991, 15th in 1995, 14th in 2011, and again as the 15th seed this time.

But no one believed that the peacock could have achieved that far. The team had to defeat championship favorites Kentucky in overtime in the first round and then pass the highly talented Murray State team in the second round to get a date with Purdue.
Purdue has been in or near the top five in the Associated Press rankings of the top 25 rankings for most of the season. Purdue pulls out of victories over Yale and Texas to score in the sweet 16. Jaden Ivey, Zach Eddy, Travion Williams and Sasha Stefanovic all top 10 points per game.
