Live-action picture How to Train Your Dragon catches hiccups and astrid – deadline

Mason Thames and Nico Parker set to play Hiccup and Astrid in DreamWorks Animation’s new live-action Universal adaptation How to train your dragon. Dean DeBlois directs the pic as the movie is set to bow on March 14, 2025.

The live-action remake will draw audiences deeper into the fantasy traditions of DreamWorks Animation. Working from a single narrative tapestry, the incredible adventures of Hiccup and Toothless captivated fans across three blockbusters, which have taken in more than $1.6 billion.

Presented for the first time by DreamWorks Animation, the original animated saga captivated the unlikely friendship between a teenage Viking and the fearsome Night Fury dragon and the amazing adventures of Hiccup and Toothless. The franchise has been acclaimed with four Academy Award nominations and a Golden Globe Award for the illustrated sequel. The franchise is based on the bestselling book series by Cressida Cowell with Deblois also writing and producing for Marc Platt Productions along with Adam Siegel, President of Marc Platt Productions. Vice President of Production Development Lexi Barta will oversee the film on behalf of the studio.

Times out for his breakout role on Universal black phone Starring alongside Ethan Hawke. He co-starred in the feature Artists Road/Spyglass incoming. Directed by Dave and John Chernin, the comedy follows four freshmen as they navigate teenage terror at their first high school party. Thames will next appear starring Academy Award-winning actor and director Mel Gibson summer boys. Thames is represented by WME, Brillstein Entertainment, and Goodman Genow Schenkman.

Parker can currently be seen on the record-breaking HBO series, The last of us vs. Pedro Pascal. She will next appear starring opposite Woody Harrelson and Laura Linney in the feature Laura ChinnSun Coast which will be issued by Searchlight. Her acting debut came as the lead in Tim Burton’s live-action adaptation Dumboreleased by Disney, and she recently starred in the HBO TV series, the third day Opposite Jude Law and Naomi Harris. Parker is represented by Curtis Brown and WME.
