Las Vegas star Narrow End Raiders Darren Waller He has appointed new agents because he hopes to secure a new contract before the start of the season.
Waller cut ties with Klutch Sports last week after less than a year with that agency and signed on Wednesday with Drew Rosenhaus and Robert Bailey.
“I plan to work on this immediately,” Rosenhouse said in a text message about getting a new contract for Waller.
Waller has two years left on the contract he signed during the 2019 season. He owes less than $14 million in those years with no money secured and is seeking a new deal that reflects his production.
according to Website Over The CapWaller’s average annual salary ranks 17th among all the tight ends in the NFL.
Since becoming a regular starter in 2019, Waller has ranked second in the NFL among all tight ends with 252 catches for 3,006 yards, trailing only Kansas City. Travis Kelsey in both categories. He’s also tied for fifth with a 14 TD in the past three years.
Waller, who will turn 30 on September 13, played 11 games last season when he injured his ankle and knee. He had 55 catches for 665 yards and two TDs.
The Raiders rely on Waller to be part of a dynamic midfield passing attack Derek Carr Includes All-Pro . Receiver Davant Adams and reception slot Hunter Renfro.
Waller missed most of the training camp due to an undisclosed injury. He returned to training once on August 17 but has since been sidelined again with a hamstring injury.
Raiders coach Josh McDaniels said Waller will return to training on Wednesday.
“Darren’s good. Darren’s good to go so you’ll see him today. I don’t really know anything about this whole thing, all” [agent] McDaniels said Wednesday. “But he will be there today and kind of excited to go forward here with our whole group and try to get the guys into positions where we feel they will be as we head into opening week next week. So, just excited.”
The Raiders opened the season on September 11 against the Los Angeles Chargers.
