The Princess of Wales spoke of her pride in the Irish Guards when she wrote to apologize for missing the dress rehearsal on Saturday.
Catherine usually attends the so-called Colonel’s Review – held before Trooping the Color next week – but is taking time away from her official duties following her cancer treatment.
In a letter signed by Colonel Catherine, the Princess said it was a “great honour” to be the ceremonial leader of the group, and that she hoped to “be able to represent you all again very soon”.
In March, she revealed she was receiving treatment for the cancer, which was discovered in post-operative tests following abdominal surgery in January.
A Kensington Palace spokesman said last week: “The Princess is not expected to return to work until she has been cleared by her medical team.”

Catherine has not attended any official events since Christmas.
The Irish Guards posted a video on X, formerly Twitter, showing her message being read to members of the regiment.
“The Irish Guardsmen were deeply moved to receive a message from our Colonel Her Royal Highness The Princess of Wales this morning,” the post read.
He added: “We continue to wish Her Royal Highness well in her recovery and send her our best wishes.”
The Color Band, scheduled for June 15, has been celebrating the King’s birthday for more than 260 years.
Traditionally, the royal family is seen gathering on the balcony of Buckingham Palace.
King Charles confirmed that he would participate despite undergoing cancer treatment.
Last year, the king inspected the troops on horseback during this event full of pomp and military parades.
This time, he will conduct the review sitting in the Ascot Landau carriage with Queen Camilla.
