Ian Rapoport: NFL teams are “scrambling” to get the Bears’ No. 1 pick in the draft

The first-choice price may have gone up over the weekend. Several big-name quarterbacks have had great performances at the NFL Combine, and now it looks like many teams would be interested in going drafting one of them.

“I would say the interest in the Chicago Bears’ No. 1 pick, Ryan Paul, is great, and the quarterback performance that we saw (at Combine) really cemented that,” he said. said Ian Rapoport on NFL Network.

Bryce Young did not participate in rehearsals at the Combine, but he has been the consensus No. 1 pick for months. However, other players like CJ Stroud, Anthony Richardson, and Will Levis have all done a good job of raising their personal equity, which could open up the possibility of the Bears returning to two trades as more teams try to add a hot young arm to their roster. For example, if the Bears trade places with the Texans and get the #2 pick, it is conceivable that the Bears would return the Phones and transfer the second pick to another team desperate to draft one of their remaining QBs.

“There is a lot of interest in some of our top midfielders,” said Rapoport. Moreso than we’ve seen in previous years, so you’ve got teams scrambling to get to number one. I expect these (trade talks) to really heat up over the next couple of weeks, here. Ryan Pauls will have options. I would say, probably, he’s done. With that No. 1 pick he’s got a chance to lay the foundation for the Chicago Bears and they’re rebuilding everything.”

The Bears currently control eight draft picks, but that number could grow if a bidding war breaks out for the first pick. The draft begins April 27th.
