When Honda revealed it Crossover introduction, there were a lot of things for the brand. First electric car heading to North America, a vision of Honda’s electric future But not a home built one. Prologue is built on General Motors’ Ultium platform But Honda doesn’t seem to want that relationship to define its electrified efforts. In fact, the company is only giving itself two years to bring an electric indoor vehicle to market in the United States.
In case you missed it:
Honda held a press conference yesterday, which covered the company’s financial past, present, and future. But between all the talk of fiscal years and strategic collaborations, there was little actual news: The Prologue (and accompanying Acura ZDX) would follow almost immediately by a new electric car built on Honda’s all-electric platform.
The upcoming EV will be “mid-to-large,” though Honda didn’t specify what market segment it would fit into. Given North America’s insatiable appetite for crossovers, the unnamed model likely falls into the mid-to-large category of this segment. Perhaps three rows to complement a smaller front, it’s set to inherit the throne from Honda’s current Passport and Pilot pairs.
Beyond the timing and vague sense of size, there’s not much we know about the upcoming Honda-designed and Honda-designed electric vehicle. However, with such a tight time frame, it might not be long until we see some concept art or excitement. After all, the year 2025 is coming faster than any of us would like to admit.
