Elon Musk, President Zelensky discusses Ukraine

Elon Musk earlier introduced Starlink satellite stations to Ukraine after an internet outage.

Kyiv:

In the wake of Russia’s escalating bombing of neighboring Ukraine, President Volodymyr Zelensky said today that he has spoken to billionaire Elon Musk about the warannouncing that Ukraine would receive another batch of Starlink satellite broadband systems to “destroy cities” from Musk’s SpaceX.

The Ukrainian president also hinted at other potential space projects that could be carried out in a partnership between the former Soviet country and SpaceX, although he added that those were “post-war” talks.

“I spoke to @elonmusk. I am grateful to him for supporting Ukraine in word and deed. Next week we will receive another batch of Starlink systems for devastated cities. We discussed potential space projects. But I will talk about this after the war,” Zelensky tweeted.

However, the tech mogul warned shortly afterwards that there was a high chance of “targeting” Starlink satellite broadband service in the war-hit country, given that “it is the only non-Russian telecom system still operating in some parts of Ukraine.” People are advised to use it with caution.

Starlink operates a constellation of more than 2,000 satellites aimed at providing Internet access throughout the planet. On Friday, the company launched another 50 Starlink satellites and more are scheduled to be placed in Earth orbit.
