We’ve known for a few days that Terrell Edmonds was the Philadelphia Eagle. Now, we know what contract he got. It wasn’t a lot of money. According to Aaron Wilson of KPRC, Edmonds’ one-year deal is worth $2 million in base terms. He received a $250,000 signing bonus as part of that deal. It looks like he could earn more than $2 million through incentives and bonuses per game.
Wilson outlines full contract details below.
Edmonds announced his farewell from the Steelers on Thursday. By Friday, the Eagles had officially announced that they would sign Edmonds.
A first-round pick for the Pittsburgh Steelers in the 2018 NFL Draft, Edmonds never quite lived up to that status, but he was a consistent, enduring, and available starter for the team. In all, he started 75 games over his career and improved with each year, playing his best in 2022. During his time with Pittsburgh, he only missed three games. As a Steeler, he recorded 410 tackles (15 for loss) with five sacks and five interceptions. Although a solid fielder, Edmunds was never a great playmaker and lacked the instincts to be effective at coverage.
Pittsburgh signed Edmonds on a cheap one-year deal last season, but could not come to terms this offseason. It’s not clear if the Steelers were willing to move on, if Edmonds was, or if there simply wasn’t much mutual interest between the two sides. Though structured differently than how the Steelers usually do their deals, full of incentives and bonuses, this deal makes a lot of sense for Edmunds and the Eagles, who will be counting on him in part to replace CJ Gardner-Johnson, who left to take a year off. one. $8 million deal with the Detroit Lions.
The Steelers reportedly signed Damontay Kazee to a two-year, $6 million contract last week though the deal has not been officially announced by the team. They will likely add at least one more name to the safehouse by the time the draft is over. Pittsburgh will have to replace two starters from the 2022 minors, and CB Cam Sutton will also lose to the Lions early in free agency.
