A week after the singer Lana Del Rey worked as a waitress At Waffle House, David Letterman has apparently decided to ditch his entertaining ways as well and work a shift packing groceries in Iowa on Friday.

In the heartbreaking photo released by Hy-Vee Grocery Store, the 76-year-old former host of “Late Night with David Letterman” can be seen wearing an apron and his own name tag while examining a can of Campbell’s soup at a Des Moines outlet.
“You never know who you’ll run into while shopping the aisles at Hy-Vee,” read the caption.
Fortunately, it didn’t look like Letterman was stocking the shelves to make ends meet.
a video Uploaded to the comedian’s Instagram account on Sunday, it shows Letterman telling the Hy-Vee manager that he’s “spent a great deal of my life in a grocery store in Indianapolis” and that it was “the last unique independent grocery store I’ve ever loved.”
“If I could give something back to the marketing community, I would love to do it,” the TV icon exclaims, before joking, “But I don’t have it every day of course.”
Then, the grocery chief straps on a letterman apron and heads off to the races.
The funny man was seen packing groceries, sampling various food items—including raw minestrone soup from an open can and a piece of chewing gum from the floor—and announcing over the intercom that celery was free “for today and only for today”.
Besides giving back to the community, Indianan was also promoting the Hy-Vee Indy Car race in Des Moines.
The artist had come to the event over the weekend to watch Christian Lundgaard drive the No. 45 race car, which he co-owns via the Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing Team.
Letterman isn’t the first celebrity to have worked in the post-fame era.
Earlier this month, Grammy-winning singer Lana Del Rey was spotted serving flavor at Waffle House in Alabama, though the reasons for her foray into the food industry remain unclear.
It may only have been so long before we saw Jerry Seinfeld bus tables at Fuddruckers.
